Risk Monitor

Overview
The FAO Risk Monitor is a digital platform that tracks and visualizes risks driving global food insecurity. These include natural hazards as well as human-driven threats. Accessible on both web and mobile, the platform features interactive maps, dynamic dashboards, and data-driven visualizations, combining real-time information, expert analysis, and automated alerts to help decision-makers detect emerging risks and respond proactively.

My Role
I led the end-to-end design process, transforming complex and multi-layered risk data into clear, actionable insights. I defined the information architecture, designed intuitive data visualizations, and crafted a user experience accessible to both technical and non-technical audiences. I collaborated closely with stakeholders and domain experts to align user needs with data capabilities, ensuring clarity without oversimplifying critical information. My work focused on reducing complexity, improving usability, and strengthening the effectiveness of decision-making tools, applying a social impact design approach to support high-stakes, real-world scenarios.
